    This lesson will teach you how to set up ExpressVPN on your Asus router using the PPTP or L2TP protocol. This setup is also compatible with Merlin on Asus. Important: This guide is only compatible with the following Asus routers: RT-N66U, RT-AC56U, RT-AC66U, RT-AC68U, RT-AC87U, RT-AC5300, RT-AC3200, RT-AC3100, RT-AC1750, RT-AC88U, RT-AC66R, RT-AC55U, RT-N53, RT-N16. If you are unable to connect to your router, contact ExpressVPN support for immediate assistance. To get your VPN account credentials and server location addresses, you need to first obtain your ExpressVPN account credentials for manual setup. Start by logging into your ExpressVPN account. After clicking on the link in the welcome email or logging into the website, click Set Up on More Devices. Click on Manual Configuration on the left side of the screen, then select PPTP & L2TP/IPsec on the right. This will show you your username, password, and a list of server addresses around the world. Keep this browser window open. You will need this information for setup. Set up your ASUS router with VPN Go to the ASUS router control panel in your browser. It should have the default address of 192.168.1.1 (unless you changed it). Log in with the username and password you set for your router account. It should be Username: admin and Password: admin by default (unless you changed it). Click on VPN on the left under Advanced Settings. Select the PPTP/L2TP Client tab at the top of the page. Select Add Profile. In the pop-up window, select PPTP at the top and fill in the fields as follows: Description: A description to remind you of your VPN connection VPN Server: One of the addresses you received above Username: The username you received above Password: The password you received above PPTP Options: MPPE 128 Click OK, then Activate. Congratulations! You should now be connected to ExpressVPN services. Check your location and IP address to make sure the VPN connection is working. If you see that the connection status is crossed out, try entering a different server address in your connection profile.
